D&AD New Blood Awards 2023 is now live

Since 1980, D&AD New Blood has worked to bridge the gap between education and industry, uplift the next generation of talent, and support new creatives to kick-start their careers. We are committed to empowering creatives around the world to feel inspired.

2023 continues D&AD’s commitment to offer new creatives the opportunity to develop their skills and bolster their portfolios as they enter the industry. Spanning disciplines such as design, UX/UI, animation, advertising, strategy, copywriting, typography, art direction and PR, this year’s 17 briefs are designed to provide emerging creatives with experience working on client briefs. This programme is open to emerging creatives worldwide looking to gain experience in the industry by responding to briefs set by top brands like Google, eBay, Candy Crush Saga, Gymshark, Sky and more.

How to enter:
Head to the website and download the briefs. Each one comes with its own brief pack, full of useful things like background information, inspiration and brand logos to help you on your way. Then it’s up to you to create your response. The brief and brief pack will tell you how to format and present your work ready to submit. We’ll open for entry in early 2023. Once we do, you can upload and enter for your work online – the entry site will walk you through the process.
You can enter as an individual, or up to five people can work together and enter as a team. Students and non-students can work together too, but everyone on the team must be eligible to enter. If you’re a student you need a tutor to enter. If you’re not a student, you don’t need to have a tutor. You also do not need to be a student to enter, but New Blood is for emerging talent so you must not have any more than one years paid experience working in the creative industry. More info in T&C’s on the website.

There are two options to enter:
1. Enter for free by completing a 5-10 minute entrant survey (one survey per team member) at the point of entry. We will use the information collated from this survey to develop an Insights Report to help make the creative industries a better place for emerging creatives.
2. If you would prefer not to complete the survey, you can pay £15 to enter. The price is per entry, not per person.

Eligibility:
Open worldwide to advertising, design, digital and marketing students, any students interested in a creative career, recent graduates and emerging creatives.

Prize:
All New Blood Pencil winners get a guaranteed place in the D&AD Annual, an invite to the New Blood Awards Ceremony, a Pencil per team, the opportunity to apply for a 2 week additional learning programme The New Blood Academy, led by D&AD with top industry agencies, as well as a winner’s package and assets to add to your portfolio to show employers you've won.
