- READINGS FROM A RESISTANCEA week long project culminating in a show, using music & poetry to explore the current political climate and landscape of the UK. With guests workshops from Momtaza Mehri & Kareem Parkins-Brown and directed by Yamin Choudury and Jemilea Wisdom-Baako, this was a work of community, celebration and joy.
- A Direct Message: Artist Development Programme 2022In August 2022, 45 young people came together to rehearse for 12 days to stage a brand-new musical on our main stage. A Direct Message explores the experiences of young people; their joy, their sadness, their loss, their triumph and everything in between. Our Artist Development Programme (ADP) is a two-week summer programme produced by Hackney Empire: Creative Futures. For 20 years Hackney Empire’s Creative Futures has been creating
a safe, inclusive space for young people from across East London.
These pioneering programmes use arts and culture to break down
barriers, build confidence and provide creative, professional and
personal development for young people regardless of their
background, education, income or experience. Through after school and holiday programmes, schools outreach programmes, partnerships, live productions and more, Creative Futures annually engages over 2,000 young people.
