About me
Siobhán Breatnach is a features journalist and storyteller with experience in broadcast, digital and print projects As a writer, editor and presenter specialising in business, culture & travel, Siobhán’s work has featured on Sky, BBC, UTV, RTÉ and TG4 and she has contributed to platforms including TV3, The Independent and The Business Post. With a genuine interest in people and a strong design aesthetic, Siobhán discovers and shares authentic stories through magazines, online content and video. Siobhán studied with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and also has over a decade’s experience in radio and TV both as a contributor and host of talks and Q&As. Through media and creative consultancy Siobhán also collaborates with brands and organisations to develop and communicate character-led partnerships, campaigns and live events. Graduating with a Bachelor of Civil Law, Siobhán considered a legal career before deciding life should be more Superman than Suits. Having won national basketball titles as a teenager, she also put dreams of going NBA pro on hold to move to an island off the coast of France where she ran a fine-dining restaurant before embarking on her media career. Siobhán is the former Editor-in-Chief of The Irish Post and irishpost.com. During that time the brand’s digital and print portfolio grew to 1.5million visitors a month online, over 800,000 followers across social media and a weekly Facebook reach of 50million through features such as live music and podcast series. Siobhán is also founding editor of magazines including Companies100, Building Britain and InBusiness. Starting out as a news & entertainment reporter, Siobhán is a former editor of the Daily Star Sunday (Ireland). She has worked in production for major brands as well as live television award shows including The Country Music Awards and The Irish Post Awards hosted by broadcaster Eamonn Holmes OBE. Previous award-winners, artists and special guests include Ed Sheeran, Courteney Cox, Sir Bob Geldof, Johnny McDaid, Kodaline, Michael Flatley, Sajid Javid, Sadiq Khan, Beoga, Paul and Gary O’Donovan, Sinéad O’Connor, Imelda May, Roy Keane, Martin O’Neill, Louis Walsh, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Róisín Murphy, Louise Kennedy and Paul Costelloe. A practiced host and interviewer, Siobhán was a TV panellist for the historic Irish State Visit to Britain’s royal family at Windsor Castle. Former President of Ireland Mary McAleese, Brian Keenan, Colm Meaney, Chris O’Dowd, Susan Whelan, HRH The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, Baroness Karren Brady CBE, Cerys Matthews, Dara O’Briain and Orla Guerin MBE are among those who have featured in her work. Siobhán has been a lead adjudicator in creative writing for international festival Listowel Writers’ Week, where previous guest authors have included Graham Norton, Alan Cumming, Irvine Welsh, Colm Tóibín and Emma Donoghue. Siobhán was part of the #BehindEveryGreatCity campaign celebrating the achievements of women and helping drive gender equality in London. She was among a group chosen to lead the capital city’s annual St Patrick’s Parade, which attracts over 100,000 people. Siobhán has partnered with global charity Concern Worldwide as part of the British Government’s Aid Match scheme to highlight humanitarian projects in East Africa, Nepal and Haiti, where she has visited and reported from. An Irish speaker, Siobhán is a University College Dublin Sutherland School of Law graduate and holds a Masters in Journalism & Society from the University of East London, where she is a guest lecturer and consultant. She was also Student of the Year on graduating with a Press Association HETAC Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism in Ireland.
