An essential reminder for #freelancers

Clients prefer to work with freelancers, not for the reason that they didn't need a professional approach, but for the reason that they have a tight budget and demand dedication.

To create effective results for them, focus on what you offer.

Also, do not forget that bills are increasing once you go beyond clients' expectations.

  • @Mihai Tigleanu To be honest, I'm against this approach.

1 - Lots of agencies or studios made things for the brands as affordable as freelancers during and after the pandemic. Agencies often accept small tasks if they're not big and financially strong (network-based such as DDB or Publicis, etc.). Because most of the clients move with a monthly retainer after a successful small task.

2 - Agencies that only consider the budget when choosing freelancers have deepened the current "quick learner" crisis. In other words, any non-designer who purchased a 2-month tutorial from Udemy is currently doing these jobs with agencies. End of the day, working freelancers who don't have any creative industry experience decrease the quality expectation of freelance services.

3 - The difference between those who use freelancing to earn money until a good opportunity comes along and those who make it a way of life emerges here. I am completely against freelancers who do not create good results, are not efficient, and work for rates far below the standards of the market. Because I want to be able to do this job as a freelancer or independent 10 years later too.
  • @Ali Can Elagöz First there are two types of clients: agencies/studios & businesses.

The first ones need freelancers to externalise specific task that cannot be done properly in-house. So they look for whatever freelancer fits within their budget. They don't really care if it's cheap or not, it just has to meet the client's budget.

Businesses on the other hand are looking for freelancers to do specific task or take small projects - that means projects too small for an agency. It's often the case that the freelancer delivers more or is capable to take other task as well, so he may become a go-to option for future small projects.

In every case the freelancer's rate is agreed and everybody's happy.
