Any thoughts on a business called ‘not fur long’ they are actually taking paid work away from other creative agencies trying to survive...

  • The companies I've seen doing this are mostly start ups who aren't able to afford someone and bank on the availability of people who are on furlough. I don't know if other companies/ organisations do that too. In that case, I agree it is outrageous for those who aren't on furlough.

    What chance have we got?
Although I am not a designer, but an artist, the principal is grotesgue and is the same as any company trying to compete with a subsidised company. It is an outrage.
I must say the furlough system has carved out a block of those who are protected, and those (like me) who are not.
  • @Brian Joyce yes of course. :) I don’t want to name and shame but there is an organisation of ‘top London creatives who have been furloughed and can work for free’ - essentially offering free creative services for free and still being paid by their employer. We feel this ultimately takes paid work away from smaller agencies and freelancers who can’t afford to work for free. It’s unethical imo. They’re heavily marketing themselves instead of quietly reaching out to businesses in need (which they’re claiming to do).... I’ve already heard of freelancers having work turned away ‘because a furloughed designer can do it for free’.
  • Can you elaborate a little please, the subject interest's me as I am excluded from the, comfortable world of the furloughed.
  • Happy to share mine for your feedback and opinion too.
