Anyone out there use poetry for inspiration? I'm starting a regular webinar to read/write poems that help us create better. eMail for deets

here's one I wrote recently. I was in the middle of a great novel and one particular bit leaped off the page at me and turned into a poem....

Stealing glances

I was reading.
“It was a way of getting
Out of the house
Into a hidden world,
Sound-proofed
From what was happening.”
That’s what I read.
And it sounded a note
That filled the whole space.
And I was jealous
So I went to the corner of the page,
To mark it,
But I turned all the pages with my great fingertip
And there was the writer
Staring out of his picture at me
Like a sharp pencil.
So I picked it up
To give it a try,
And here we are.

  • Hi Barb, nice poem. I wrote a poem every day on my Instagram. It’s a great outlet for me, I also wrote one for the NHS that a film director turned into a short film. That’s on my profile or the site I created to raise money for the NHS (lovinlondon.org) my IG: @alanfirmin

    Take care
    Alan
