Art Therapy Information and Volunteering Opporunties

Hi everyone,

I'm currently between jobs, leaving my role as an SEO analyst and persuing illustration. I have become very interested in art therapy and am looking to connect with art therapists and learn more about the industry. If you know anyone or any resources I would love to hear from you.

Likewise if anyone has any connections to charities or non-profits looking for volunteers, preferably in the creative sector (based in London or remote) I would really appreciate any leads you might have!

Thanks!

  • Hi Natalia,

This sounds like a great idea, especially at this time of pandemic.

I don't have any industry information to share with you here, but I do have a related story...

I have some very close friends whose father has recently been inflicted with dementia, and living and coping with this disease during the lockdown periods has been extremely hard for him and his family.

However, one of the main things to help him remain calm during long periods of isolation has been 'colouring in'... I sent him some designs that I purchased from:

    Dandan Design
    https://www.dandandesign.org/nhscharitiestogether

These designs were on sale last summer to raise money for NHS charities, and these particular sheets have really helped my friends father to remain calm (also to feel like he is being useful as he is told the 'colouring in' work is to help the children in the school where his daughter works).

Wishing you much luck with this career switch and I will be interested to hear more.

    All the best,
    Mandie
