Can anyone give me tips on how to video edit terrible and shakey footage, (espeically when theres a few decent clips)?

this is the first time I'm editing live footage, and it is a music video.... the footage I have to say is quite bad, what good effects can I use and cuts to make it look good? xx

  • I would usually stabilise footage with After Effects. Even if you haven't used the software before, it's quite easy to dive in:

Play around with the different settings and see which result you like best
  • On Premiere Pro you can try slowing down the footage (better if the footage is in 50 or more fps) by right clicking the clip, choosing 'speed', changing the % to 50% and set to 'Optical flow'. Render and see if it works well. You can then 'Nest' this clip and apply a Warp Stabilizer effect to further smooth it out.
  • If you’re using Premiere Pro have you tried the Warp Stabilizer? It may be able to fix it for you, I’ve linked a tutorial below which shows you how to use it (also has some other fixes for shaky cam too)
