Client asking to use images for advertising (web, print) - any UK photographers with helpful resources/tips for commercial usage/pricing?

For this client I typically produce, shoot and create content exclusively for social media. Now the client wants to run some of the content for ads and possibly use content in brochures, marketing materials, on billboards etc. I have little personal experience in commercial usage - if anyone could shed some light or point to helpful UK-specific resources for pricing that would be great. Thanks in advance

  • @Eleni Parousi Thanks so much Eleni, that's really helpful. The AOP calculator does seem slightly on the high side, mainly as this is a smaller scale client who we have a good relationship with. In that case I think we'll try to keep it reasonable and a happy medium for both parties. In the T&Cs email, would you recommend outlining a few different options (varying years/usage types, etc) or simply predicting what they might need and going from there?
  • AOP calculator is excaclty what I'd suggest also. One more thing to mention is to state all the prices in your terms and conditions email and try to cover all basis. If they seem unsure of what their outputs will be, try to predict and give them and idea of what the prices will be. Then you can start negotiating. I find AOP to be on the high end of pricing, so do keep in mind your experience and relationship with the client.
  • The AOP usage calculator is great for getting a ballpark figure as a starting point - https://www.the-aop.org/information/usage-calculator
