Do you feel like you collect connections rather than actually connect with people on The Dots?

With all the spammy-sales some are guilty of, you might be put off sending a DM and starting a conversation, that could expand your network and help introduce you to interesting people and dare I say it…

…maybe even lead to a collaboration!

But here’s three good reasons to do it anyway:

1. If someone ignores you, well, they were ignoring you anyway - so weigh up what you’ve you got to lose vs what have you have to gain.
2. Like most things, the simple, bold moves are usually the best and if that means leaving your comfort zone to talk to someone, it’s worth it.
3. Think about the best relationships you’ve made, the chances are they started with a simple chat - no presumptions or expectations.

Just because some people have ulterior (and/or creepy) motives, doesn’t mean that’s how you’ll come across.

Give it go. You’ll never know what could happen.

  • @Sharon Callcut Thanks Sharon!!!

Just knowing you read the posts is great and really encouraging, so thank you.

Feel free to DM any time BTW, I mean what I say about building proper connections with people.

    Have a great Thursday too.
  • Morning Peter,
You are right; I’ve found the most interesting relationships I’ve built over the years come from a simple chat. I often read your posts and should comment on them more often, but as with most of us, work and commitments drag your attention away in a different direction, and it just doesn’t happen. I will try harder in future.
I have no ulterior or creepy motives in saying hi; just an acknowledgement of your interaction on the Dots and wishing you a Happy Thursday!
    Keep them coming!
