Does anyone have any good advice on promoting music videos online to build greater views?
I've directed a number of videos over the years and sometimes feel let down by the PR undertaken by the record label and the bands management

- My experience is, you get visibility when the artist has a solid PR that is dedicated to get a GOOD premiere on something like Nowness for instance. Just to name one. Given budgets are - even in the best cases - lower than they should, this point could be something to discuss ahead and also part of the deal. There is a bunch of blogs you can submit to, and if they like the video you may get a repost, but nothing beats good PR. Social Media is a good add and great to do, but it works in combo with a good premiere. My 2 cents!

- Hey Grant, I'd say your options to increase visibility/views on a video are: paid media, communities, press as you've referenced, or organic media (social channels). There are things you can do to maximise the impact of these individual routes, for example... paid-really tight smart targeting, communities-build relationships with people making similar music, comment view, share and support one anothers releases, press-offer exclusivities to publications (eg launch a video on one) or do your own awareness work by reaching out to influencers, bloggers or relevent video creators, social-run competitions which encourage engagement, use multiple channels rather than just one or two. Unfortunately unless you've got a huge profile or huge budgets (or both!) it's a bit of a grind, but by maximising all channels, you give them the best chance of success. Hope that helps, Lex x
