Does fashion illustration can count as a valid publicity campaign for an independent brand?

I´m starting my own handmade shoe brand and I procured to take photos of the finish photos but as the client take with them the pair of shoes sometimes the quantity of photos I can take is limited or at least the photos are only of the product itself but not in an active use. Therefore I´m starting to do this illustration to show or get this editorial pictures that I need.
Do you think it would work as a valid publicity campaign?

  • Hi Andrea,

Althought the idea is interesting the image you posted would hardly tell to anyone that the main attraction is the shoe. Try to have a bigger focus on the product. Also for a longer run you do need photography from the products it's a must. You still could use illustrations in specific situations, and yes even as an advertising piece. Bigger brands did it too like YSL, J.W. Andreson etc.. Depending on the audience of the publication you can be more playful after all it's about selling the goodnight sleep not the mattress.
