Fellow print sellers, photographers, illustrators, etc: How do you go about selling your images? I'm looking to increase sales...

Heya, I'm primarily a documentary and commercial photographer and have prints and various merchandise available for sale via my social media channels and website. I've had work available for a while now, but unfortunately it's not really getting the sales I'd like for it to get. I think my pricing and editioning are very compelling, particularly considering the quality of paper that I use and I believe a lot of my work has aesthetic and conceptual appeal. My hunch is that I just don't know how to market it and drive traffic to it appropriately. What would your advise be?

  • I would say think about your audience. Who do you think would be interested in buying your work? try to be as specific as possible and then start proactively reaching out to them invinting them to look at your work. Your work might be amazing but maybe not enough people are seeing it hence why your sales are not where you want them to be.
  • Hi! Do some research on what websites sell best your type of content - might be shutterstock for instance? I know some photographers sell on Society6 and Etsy as well. There must be a lot more. Good Luck!
