First thing to do when designing or relaunching your freelance website.
Positioning.
Be 100% on who you want to do this for and design around that. Which means:
- Focussed copy
ie. What you can do for someone and why they should care.
- Specific call to action
ie. What you want someone to do and how.
- Clear process
ie. What makes working with YOU different than just popping on Fiverr or Upwork
- Relevant work examples/portfolio items
ie. Just your best or most recent. Realistically, no one will take the time to look through EVERYTHING you’ve ever done.
You want a potential client to land on your site and think that it was built for them.

- @Melchior Smit thanks for your reply. Really appreciated
- Thank you for the advice once again Peter.
- I have just redone my website and the best advice I got was to 'put out there the things you want to get back' so I took sometime to currate the work I show, consider the favourite projects I worked on, some old, some recent, some that were successes and some that never made it but only the things I want to be attracting in the future. Good luck.
- @Juan Carlzon Thank you, really appreciate it!
