First thing you need to do as a creative freelancer is to know how to build trust.

Potential clients have a whole internet full of choice, so show you understand their worldview and problems by articulating your:

-process,
-personality,
-passion,
-and previous work

It goes a long way towards building that trust.

I worked with a dance coach recently and taking the steps to pinpoint her target clients and niche was instrumental in understanding how to position her website and build trust with her prospects.

This article shows how we did that and how Emi uses her website to build her creative business - http://www.peterdwright.uk/useful/how-a-creative-freelancer-uses-her-website-for-her-coaching-business

  • @Freya Bennett thank you!

Totally agree. I think when anyone buys anything - service or product - trust is the first thing people look for.

So while everyone else is looking to go viral, the people looking to win trust will win - imo!
  • This is a brilliant post and article! With the unstructured nature of freelancing, going the extra mile to foster a trustworthy relationship with you clients and work environment really does add to your credibility. The sooner you can build trust in your brand, the sooner you can lock in new partnerships
