Have you been to any brilliant virtual events, meet-ups or courses recently that you think we should help promote on The Dots?

  • I went to a fantastic talk 'A Brief Typographic Trip Around the World' by the Letterform Archive the other day and I'd recommend the programme:

They always invite a range of interesting speakers and many of their past talks are also available online:

Would also recommend the Herb Lubalin lecture series:

  • I have been doing workshops (via Zoom) on the ACE IT programme which promotes immersive tech for startups- it's a joint venture between UAL and University of the Southbank and has been very interesting and quite useful.
  • Hi Cathy

There are the virtual events for the Reclaim the Frame initiative that are currently being organised by the Birds Eye View team to increase audiences for films by female filmmakers. There are online screenings arranged, until cinemas re-open, and also question and answer sessions. At times there will be performance workshops from comedians and peers.

The link to the events page is below:

  • I'd say the one that I signed up to earlier today:
"A Storytelling Masterclass with Havas London’s Vicki Maguire & Kate Mosse". Very inspiring talk about creativity and story telling, and although geared towards people in advertising I'm sure people from other disciplines will have taken a lot from what the two main speakers were talking about. :-D
  • Hi Cathy,

I create live, interactive Zoom events that are either for cultural curiosity or professional development. I've worked hard to create events that are just as exciting as if you were joining me in-person by adding interactivity like drink-along, draw-along, tastings and multisensory experiments based on my published research.

They're ideal for all in the creative industries (non-designers have the biggest "aha" moments). I post them on The Dots, but I'd really, really love you to help promote them:

I've just added new events for Dec-Feb here, they'll be posted to The Dots shortly:

I recently spoke at Adobe MAX online and over 10,300 people signed up for my session with so much amazing feedback, and I ran an online session for the Design Museum last week.

While lockdowns continue I add extra time at the end of an event for a group to join me for a chat. So many of us feel isolated and I've found that this is a great way to feel like we're all going for a coffee together after the main event.

    All the best,
    Sarah
  • Hi Cathy,

I would like to point out this initiative because I believe it has several objectives and values in common with The Dots. 100 professionals from all over the world were invited to be part of a non-profit book and without any kind of commercial action, the only goal is the sharing of knowledge in this historical moment. I am the author.

    I remain available, kind regards

  • Yes I am currently doing an online Paralegal course with One Education. So far pleased with the course and they offer a certificate upon completion. There are various subjects and topics to choose from and one can work at their own pace. They do offer good discounts as well .
  • Hi Cathy,

I'm attending a really insightful online summit on Data Journalism that's running for the next few days. It's free, of course. You can find the programme here: https://newsimpact.io/summits/news-impact-summit-online-data#programme
  • The School of Communication Arts 2.0 have been doing brilliant things! I attended one of their webinars during lockdown and managed to get in. Also recently had a talk from Sir John Hegarty :)
