Here’s a question. What are you thinking, right now, this second? Are you thinking nothing you do has value?

My Google calendar sends me daily reminders that I don't have anything important to do. They used to depress me no end but I leave them on as a call to action. Goading me.
"Not today perhaps but, some time soon."
Dreaming has never felt so important. I have so many dreams, so I spend a good portion of my day cultivating ways to make them manifest.
We're all being forced to reshape our realities. What better time to dream an idea into the realm of the tangible?
It feels as though so many of us are sitting on our hands, afraid to voice an opinion, as if our opinions stopped mattering somewhere in isolation.
It's not true; they matter more than ever before.

  • @Simon Andrew MacArthur I hear you and agree. My gut just reacted to the 'no value' part, because I do not feel that way. As for skin-hunger, I think we all have that at that moment.
  • @Maymuna Abdi Well, there's the other part of this thing Angel, so many of us suddenly no longer have that thing that we've allowed to define us for so long. I'm a life-long freelancer and just about everything I ever did to keep myself solvent no longer exists. But, we allow ourselves to be defined by what we do, not who we are. I've been guilty of it. Without that thing, what are we? It seems like the perfect time to shake up that ugly paradigm too. Ask those questions - what am I outside of the necessities of keeping myself alive? It's a question most of us never stop to ask.
What's that quintessential thing that you love? For most of us, it's not our job; that's how we pay the bills and keep a roof over our heads. Pure necessity. And your boss wants you to keep thinking of it as absolute necessity. Do or die.
    Fuck him. Go find you.
Where's your passion? Again, in these times it feels as though our passions have been totally subsumed in the head-long rush to invent a vaguely comfortable space for ourselves in this new normal. Move towards that passion, even it's in tiny incremental steps. Take a sheet of blank paper and draw your biggest dream on it. Make it manifest, not something ethereal that stays in your head. Trust me, there's power in just writing it down.
    Turn that into a shrine.
    Needn't cost a penny.
    With love

  • @Creative Conscience It's time to form your own tribe, tough in the current environment I know. But we're not built to operate in isolation and it shows so clearly right now. Everyone I know is desperate for connection which creates a lot of anger when we most need empathy.
My dear Dutch friend said I was 'huidhonger' - literally skin hungry. Fuck yes, I'm skin hungry.
I like the Dots - I think it's a nice fluid way to find like-minded people. That's how I intend to use it. Find my tribe.
  • @Christiane Lange Exactly what I'm saying. I'm praying that we can craft a better, more inclusive society on the back end of this nightmare.
  • Quite the opposite really. When things get tough, anything you do to move forward or add some value somewhere counts for more, not less. For me it is a perfect time to try that crazy idea that has been banging around inside my head for a while, or take that extra time to be there for somebody else.
  • I need a new job lol that's what I am thinking
