How do you prioritize your hang time?
Rest and recovery is just as fundamental, if not more vital, then exercise.

- A lot of great insights below. For me, it is about setting my goals that balance business with health and well being. I've learnt that it's about accepting that you need down time and taking it. If you're freelance, this could mean a Wednesday morning walk around your local park, guilt free. This lets your brain make connections that help you be more productive when you're back in work mode.
- @Abigail Baldwin So happy you brought up accountability. Writing things down is a terrfic way to hold yourself accountable. We write down meetings, appointments and work schedules- Why not write down, prioritize and hold ourselves accountable for rest and enjoyment too?
- @Mandie Johnson Thank you for sharing, you seem to have a good structure to your self care. You're right about not only doing yoga but having an instructor that you vibe with. It makes all the difference.Sometimes it is hard to get a long walk in everyday. What do you think about taking 2-3, ten minute walks on days when you're very busy?
- @Matt Percival Thank you for the reminder to be human. We are wired for socialization and connection. Social support is a critical factor in achieving goals and lifetime longevity.Enjoy your Christmas lunch and boozy afternoon!
- @Alexandra (Lex) Hearth You bring up a fantastic point- rest and recovery doesn't necessarily mean sitting or lying down. More often then not, our bodies need rest but our minds need stimulation. Yoga, reading, journalling or good conversation are magnificent ways to rejuvenate. Thank you for sharing how you prioritize your well being!
- To prioritise it, I HAVE to write it into the diary! This can be good if I'm having a social date, because someone is holding me accountable. So, I like to relax amongst friends and family. :-) I do love time alone too, but I seldom get it. You have to take your wins where you can. x
- Saturday morning yoga with an amazingly inspiring yoga teacher is essential for re-energising after a very busy week at the computer! Also, a long walk every day helps, preferably close to trees (not always possible when very busy of course).A little bit of reading before sleep and some collaging for fun can also be therapeutic for me : )I agree with Matt P too, it's so important to remember to socialise after a busy working week!Have a great Christmas all !x
- Remember to socialise, it's so so easy to forget! It's difficult, when you work alone, to prioritise anything other than work. It's why it's so important to make sure you network or have friends locally to you, particularly if you share a common interest. Then you can encourage each other to break away, visit a pub, do a walk, cycle, go to a match, gig, etc, etc – you all need each other's encouragement. To that end, I'm giving myself half a day off for a Christmas lunch and a boozy afternoon today! Remember to be human and have a lovely Christmas everyone!
- Hey Stefania, I'm not much of a 'hanger' - I prefer more active recovery, like reading, yoga, journalling, or socialising. But those, plus a lot of sleep keep me in a calm and balanced state when everything else is busy! Alexandra
