I'm doing a series of interviews, quite simple, and I was wondering what equipment would be good

I haven't got a good smartphone for taking footage, so I need a simple enough video camera
Should I invest more in sound equipment/lighting etc?
The only thing I do own is a tripod
Budget is an issue, I'm willing to buy second hand I just don't know where are reliable resources or even the equipment to search
I'll be the only crewmember due to COVID restrictions and portable is preferred

  • Prioritise audio quality over video, it isn't going to matter how crisp the footage is if viewers can't hear what your subjects are saying. Depending on the size of the space you are filming in, a basic Canon dslr could be all you need. I got by for years on my 550D when I first started out, the inbuilt mic is good enough to record clear audio in a small space.
