I'm setting up my first Etsy page this week (selling aromatherapy-infused face mask sprays) - any tips for setting up my shop? Thanks!

  • Depends what level of advice you want. Id suggest youtube tutorials or hands on learning it. Best advice we can give most people is find key words or search things you need doing. And try do them one at a time. I suggest start basic very basic. Or find the theme and name. Takes time to think of how you want to look at it as a whole concept.
  • Plenty of good, clear photos, detailed descriptions, simple product names. It took me a while to get my listings right, and still tweak them regularly (like whenever I get any feedback from customers). I like to message customers a few days after posting, to check on it they got it and see what they think. It can take a month or so to see results from an edit to items (eg; editing keywords). So patience is key. Its a lot of trial and error at first, but worth it when you get it right. :)
  • @samantha rushforth cool. Great that you've already had sales!

I'd suggest swapping round your header hero photo and the profile picture. Your logo should be the profile picture, and a snapshot what you sell and create for the header.
  • That is exciting! Don't know much about etsy, but if you need a photographer in the future for your eshop, have a look at my dots page, I am available for such jobs :)
  • Make sure your policies are updated and descriptions too. If needed, repeat some important information as people do not read! WIth reviews, I think the Etsy handbook frowns on sellers asking for a review over messages but Etsy does send reminders to buyers to leave a review.

Photos - agree - make them high quality and showcase your product in different settings. BTW, you cannot upload a photo bigger than 10mb. you can also check you competitors photos and see what works with them to get some inspiration.

Etsy loves shops with about me section filled out, with items whose descriptions are more than 200 characters and who use a lot of tags. There is not an option to add the estimated delivery time for the deliveries - use that to help buyers know when to expect an item.

Can't think of anything else now. Feel free to message me if you have any questions, my shop is https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TaarnaKnickKnacks
  • Yep, good. crisp images, probably high key, of the product. Packaging lables to be correctly aligned, in good condition. Go for white acrylic as a base usually looks good. Ask for end user comments and pictures to circulate over all platforms. Maybe ask an influencer to test your product too. Try to add some back story to your enterprise to engage the public.
  • Having clear images of products, clear instructions about delivery and sizes if it applies. Also branding and if and when customers purchase, seeing if they are willing to review and include photos of the products when received. Hope that helps
  • Do you have your branding in place already? Always a good idea to kick off with an identity that will be carrying across your social media channels before launching. Creating and implementing it retroactively could be a nightmare and a drain on your precious time and resources.
