I've been asked to write some personal objectives and I'm finding it so hard! Can anyone recommend any reading/have any advice on this? x

  • @Peter Jackson The idea of finding the connection between challenge and problem is very interesting, thank you so much Peter!
  • Hey Clare, can't make any promises, but slide 38 on the link below might be useful:

  • Space to think

Working out our goals can be a challenge.

We can end up asking the same questions and getting the same answers.

Inspirational quotes can help, but they always belong to someone else who has worked it out for themselves.

For fun, try filling in the spaces for a few of these:

An audacious ambition would be […]

    […] can prevent a decision.

How would a […] approach it?

Worrying about conforming can prevent […]

  • Hi Clare,

Some sage advice from Scott and Areti. When discussing goals with my clients, as well as their business and financial objectives, I get them to focus on personal goals about creativity and health. This brings balance and perspective to your activities.

For example, do you have a project you are passionate about that is not part of your day-to-day? These creative goals shift our focus away from the daily routine.

A recent health goal for me was to spend an hour cycling every second day. This helped me with both my fitness and my mental health as it meant leaving the desk and unplugging from technology.

    Good luck!

  • Hi Clare

I ask my clients to start with the end in mind and answer the question - If you woke up tomorrow and everything was how you wanted it to be, what would that look like.

Have that conversation with yourself. Describe is, visualise it.

Then work through what is currently PREVENTING you from achieving that. It’s important to UNBLOCK those obstacles first.

Then UNLOCK routes forward to overcome those areas. These become your personal objectives.

It’s over to you then to commit and UNLEASH the action required to make them happen.

    Hope that helps

    Stay Boom!

  • Hello Clare! It is surely hard to make projections out of thin air. If I could suggest a warm-up exercise, consider this: think about yourself in the beginning of your career; try to remember 5 original objectives, 5 obstacles you met along your journey, and 5 character qualities that helped you overcome them. Then, try to do the same for this past year; consequently, do the same for the near future. I hope this helps! Wishing you all the best whatever your objectives are ❤️
