"Life is a puzzle, it isn't picture perfect You could miss perfection in it because it is subtle.." *What has this Lockdown taught you?

This Lockdown has taight me:
Stop PERFECTION and Start PROGRESS!

this quote was taken from ninety by Jaden Smith. Honestly these words resonated with my thoughts at this specific time of the lockdown as it gradually lifts. The idea of perfection for me has been shattered over these past few months, cause just like a puzzle (if you stand back) the overall picture is seen - regardless if the puzzle pieces aren't put tightly together.

  • Hi Steve,
The anwer to this is a work in progress, as I am still assimilating the changes. But definitely I understood that we have an inner fear of being with ourselves, that we all need connection (sometimes quantity over quality) and that for a long time in history we are all doing the same for the same reason (the outcome of this will be extremely interesting). I also learnt that I am terrible at baking!
    Best,
  • I think the main 'light bulb' moment for me was realizing that I control the outcome of my life eveyrday and not my past, my clients or my stress. Especially that away from the office and the hustle of everyday, I started realizing how most of my issues were created by my reactions to things, not sure that make sense. Lockdown taught me that I have control over my life and that just provided me with clarity and a sense of calm.
  • @Patrick Ofosu I am blessed bro, how about yourself? lool no word of a lie - I tried to get what you was saying but didn't get it (come like my eyes aren't open enough ha), what was you trying to say here?
"Recheck the posing things catwalking infront you! :) Try at least....".
Definitely man keep safe as well
  • @Adon B. Bro honestly that was me in terms of the "busy busy" lifestyle and being caught up with the thought of how to break the algorithms lol - creating in the realms of what's trendy etc...

So truly! I am weirldly grateful for this slow down (course not for the deaths) as it caused a glitch in life (the matrixs lol) in my understanding of how I thought was the only way to make it as a creative.

I lost my way in terms of creating more so of what is aesthetically pleasing all the time over what matters with a message (whose to say you can't do both?) - just today I came to that conclusion. So Goodluck bro and defo look forward to see what you create moving forward!
  • @Kim Yusufu I hear that! Precisely what I have been going through in terms of self-belief in the things we can accomplish as one of my favourite quotes states:
“If you haven't confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started. ” ― Marcus Garvey.

Hard to aquire - even though we have more than enough proof of ourselves doing great things, but we allow negative (no matter how small) to override more times than ever and lose faith.
So keep your head up and show up with good intentions everyday to your craft, you will see just how far you can take it.
  • Lockdown has forced me to slow down. I'm guilty of "busy work". Keeping my diary jammed packed and chasing every opportunity, with no time to reflect. I've been forced to slow down and process things. Now I've recognised that i've been creating content to stay relevant and not to simply enjoy it. So now I'm getting back to shooting images just for fun. Not for engagement or opportunities. Just to be present and sharpen my tools.
  • As a creative the ideology of perfection is never attainable but it is unvetiablity what I am always striving for. I realise that my work will always be open to improvements and to judgement which can be a hard thing to accept. However, in lock down i realise how valuable taking a creative pause is and that I need to have confidence in my ability and my work.
  • You alright boss? If you where patient, considerate before. Add more and multiply it. Recheck the posing things catwalking infront you! :) Try at least. Keep your eyes open.... Keep safe and chat later
  • @Ksenia Soldatenkova I definitely concur! First step to our evolution is acknowledgement of our own flaws, as I also realised that once we come to terms with the fact that nothing is perfect - within that we find perfection.
I definitely will check out that book as it sounds intriguing and I need new material to read lol.
  • @Demetrio Cornacchia glad to see the evolution in mind, shows you're using this time wisely. I definitely want to start moving into analog to see what outcome I get but as you said it's expensive lol
  • @L W That is so true! honestly I am learning that a lot of society haven't grasped common sense over selfish desires, but as long as you know you move correct and change the things you have some control over for the better then the world becomes a better place.
  • I think you are right, before the quarantine I was more in to analog photography but during this months I’ve started to reconsider the phone as good as an expensive camera, in more circumstances also smarter and faster. This has changed my point of view on the expression of yourself through the art
