Looking for a 2D Animation generalist

Hello! I'm Jenny from After Dark Animation, a small animation studio (soon to be) based in North Cornwall and we are looking for a new freelance animator to join our team to help with some new projects coming up in the future on a job-by-job basis. Someone ideally located in the south west as it would be great to actually be able to meet face to face, but anywhere in the Uk.

Have a look at some of our work here -
www.afterdarkanimation.com

At After Dark Animation we work in a really wide range of styles and animation techniques so someone thats flexible will fit well. We would like someone that wants to learn the entire production pipeline and can jump in at any stage from storyboarding to compositing. You must be confident drawing as a lot of jobs we have will need traditional animation but we also have a lot of after effects work to mix it up. We make load of different films too from Music Videos, Explainer videos, Advertisements, Pilots and TikTok's so you really wont be board!

You should be comfortable using
- Adobe Animate (flash)
- Adobe After Effects
- Procreate (traditional animation)

Not essential but desirable
- Illustrator
- Photoshop
- Callipeg (iPad)
-TVPP
- Cinema 4D (Please teach us!)

You will need access to at least the Adobe CC full suit and Procreate on iPad Pro.

Thanks!
Jenny

  • Hey Jenny!

I was wondering whether you were still looking for that 2D Animation generalist?

My main specialism is 2D animation, both digital and traditional, that emphasises a delicacy and tactility seen in physical media. Often organic and fluid, my work draws from a love of mark-making, and atmospheric and emotional storytelling. I have experience working with a range of clients and my directorial experience spans both filmmaking and commercial work.

Here is my showreel and website if you wanted to have a look!

Having seen the work After Dark Animation has done over the last few years I would love to have the opportunity to be a part of your future projects. Your work with Barre Centre Buddhist Studies and the BBC Listening Project are both beautiful especially seems to match my personal creative direction.

With experience in independent filmmaking, and having previously worked on various commercial projects, I’m accustomed with the animation pipeline and I can offer a playful approach to creative experimentation and confidence in making creative decisions, as well as excellent time management and an understanding and commitment to production timelines and brand guidelines.

In terms of software and equipment, while my go-to application to animate with is Photoshop, I am comfortable using Adobe Animate, After Effects, Illustrator and TVPaint. Saying that, I’m a quick learner and know I could get to grips with Procreate if needed! I own a MacBook Pro and Wacom Cintiq 16 and have access to the full Adobe CC suite.

Let me know if you’re still looking!

    Thanks,
    Kate
