Looking to create a poetry book about racism students have faced whilst at a school!

Hello!

I am looking to create a poetry book (mostly likely online, not print) written by students (or former students) about racism they have experienced whilst at school. I have never written or curated a poetry book and so I would really appreciate it if anyone could give me any tips or useful resources in regards to creating one. I am not looking for collaborators as of yet, but If my research goes successfully I will look for collaborators at a later stage.

Thank you!

  • Great idea. I love it. Will be wonderful for people to have a voice and feel seen in this way. Do you follow Kate Clanchy on Twitter? She posts her student's poems and might be a helpful contact/source of inspiration for the project. I helped curate an online poetry collection www.aloveinverse.com which is now to be published in print and I'm also a poet myself - If you'd like my help at any time I'd be more than happy. Although, I'm white and I have never experienced racism, so I might not be someone you'd want to collaborate with for this.. but that's my tuppence worth, I hope it's helpful. Wish you all the best with it.
