Video/GIF people! Noob question incoming

I’ve been asked by a client to make a GIF which is fine but they say they want to use it for a range of socials and their website, what size shall I export it as? And do I need to crop each photo before stitching it together? Any help is appreciated!

  • @Troy judkins have been wondering this too! Super helpful answer @Bhav Sonigra, thanks so much :-)
  • Hey Troy,
For social media it is better to export as video mp4 rather than GIFs. The size will be smaller and a higher quality.

Unfortunately each of the social media platforms have different sizes for different parts so your client would need to specify where they want to use the content and size accordingly.

Eg IG square post is 1080x1080, IG story is 1080x1920 and FB image is 1200x628

For websites, I’ve not really seen GIFs being used anymore because of their large size for high quality. With current web coding technology, it’s better and quicker to use video mp4 files.
