What makes a great website?

My POV: Capturing the perfect fusion of design and dialogue is tantamount to connecting with the soul of your audience. Being bold with font, image, and layout conveys this connection with the general public, customer lifestyles, and intelligent messaging.

  • A site that undestands and does the job it's meant to. What is it used for, do you even need one, who will use it (both internally and externally).

What makes a great website? A great understanding of your business/organisation/brand.
  • Different websites need a different approach.

I see that constantly and coming from other designers or developers.
People don´t understand that not all agency or project websites need to have the best usability. Sometimes you need to touch the limits or go past everything reasonable and expected. Even to forget accessibility.
Other times good website can be boring but accessible and with great IA and usability. Intuitive and fast to use. It should be something that users don´t notice. No need for soul or branding just purely functional.

In most cases, a good website is something that represents the brand and gives customers the necessary information or possibility to perform an action. A good website is trustworthy.

I think one common aspect that is quite a lot overlooked is good typography.
