What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

POV: I would ask what top 2 or 3 preferred/favorite colors are important in your design project. Have you established this kind of consistent relationship with your brand, company, or service? If not, then why haven't you? Brand identity is everything; the colors that represent you or your company are a key factor for instant recognition in public awareness, consumer trust, and customer loyalty.

  • I ask them about their aims and objectives. WHY do they want to redesign their website. WHY do they want a new brand identity. Sometimes it boils down to other things which may be better solutions.

It's good to get down to the foundations of why the project has cropped up.
  • First thing that comes to mind is making sure the key decision maker is involved in the (important) meetings. So often projects can be assigned to other staff and then don’t get approved when they go up the ladder.
Work out what problem they want to solve and respond accordingly- often what a client thinks they want actually won’t solve their pain point.
