When starting your creative career - is creating what you want more important than following the trends (that gives needed attention) ?

Just a constant struggle I believe all creatives experience (myself included), wanted to know your take on things.

  • Yes I think so, it also means what you produce/design is true to you and will help to set your own voice/look/style going forward. A balance of the two if anything but I wouldn't just follow trends.
  • Hi @Marilia Quemard appreciate the interest, was this for my message below about needing models to collaborate with? if so message me directly and let's book a date!
  • Thanks @Stephanie Njoaguani what you said has really honed the importance of showing individualism through style, as that will allow YOU to shine even whilst doing commercial work. Definitely wise words as it can be hard to balance that out at the beginning but its all about apply a style to merge both worlds together - appreciate the words!
  • I think a mix of both - let the work you like to do reflect the kind of work you do often e.g if you like to create work focused on certain kinds of products or brands, do that and create your style. Then take that style and apply it to commercial work or what’s popular. That way your work is consistently a mix of YOU no matter what work you do.
