Join us on Thursday 11th June at 7pm for an online discussion and live Q&A on reproductive rights and abortion access in 2020 with a focus on the impact of the Covid19 pandemic.

Tune into the event using this link here You’ll hear from Grainne Teggart, Amnesty International UK’s NI Campaign Manager, who will update on the latest with our work in Northern Ireland, as well as Ruairi Rowan, Director of Advocacy and Policy from Informing Choices NI who will discuss the emergency early medical abortion services which have been put in place there. Elisabeth Smith, Chief Counsel - State Policy and Advocacy at the Centre for Reproductive Rights will discuss the situation in the US, including rollback and barriers to abortion care and Sarah Shaw, Head of Advocacy from Marie Stopes International will tell us how access to abortion care has been affected across MSI’s global programmes including in India, Nepal, South Africa and Zambia. The rollback on rights and access to abortion during Covid19 is an issue affecting many, including those within the UK. As you will be aware the pandemic has meant travel for women and girls from Northern Ireland to England for this healthcare is neither safe nor viable and unlike England, Scotland and Wales, Northern Ireland has not had measures put in place to enable women and girls to safely self manage abortion at home through the use of both abortion pills. A lack of telemedicine is just one of the barriers women and girls face.
