Join us at 8pm on Tuesday 30 August for a concert by Exotourisme, the final live programme for Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster’s exhibition, Alienarium 5.
Exotourisme is a musical, vocal and visual rift in the glittering electro-pop galaxy. The collaborative duo comprising experimental artist and singer Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, and musician and experimental artist Julien Perez, have been sending sounds and signals into space since 2018. Shining like a 2000s neon sign in a haunting psychic landscape, Exotourisme is a melancholic and bewitching dream, saturated with cinematographic nostalgia. With their retro-futurist electro melodies, the duo are inspired by films such as Blade Runner and Solaris, as well as 1990s French ‘cold wave’.
The group’s first album, Replicante, hacks the android memories of Blade Runner characters such as Rachael and Pris, transcribed and sung by Gonzalez-Foerster. The album also includes narration by writer and philosopher Paul B. Preciado, who has been an ongoing collaborator of Gonzalez-Foerster.
Taking place inside Black Chapel, the Serpentine Pavilion 2022 designed by Theaster Gates, this concert marks the beginning of the ‘Replicante Tour’, which celebrates the duo’s first album, and will continue with concerts in Bergen, Paris, Berlin and beyond.
To mark the last live programme for the exhibition, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster’s Alienarium 5 will remain open on the evening until 10pm.
