Organised by Art UK
The latest in the Art Unlocked series. Join Art UK and Weston Park in exploring artworks from their collection.
About this event
Art Unlocked is an online event series brought to you by Art UK in collaboration with Bloomberg Philanthropies. Each week, different museum and gallery curators and directors from across the UK will deliver a 30-minute talk on selected works from their collection.
For our latest talk, join Art UK and Gareth Williams, Curator & Head of Learning at Weston Park, for an exciting exploration of some notable works from this collection on 25th January 2023, 5:30pm. In this talk you will find out how today Weston Park’s important art collection is located in a rural English country house, on the Shropshire/ Staffordshire border, but its core works were originally housed in London until 1735.
Art Unlocked is delivered over Zoom Webinar and can be accessed via the event page once you have registered. There will be a short Q&A session after the talk.
The talk is free but there is the option to donate to Weston Park alongside your ticket. Any donations are much appreciated.
About Weston Park
Weston Park’s great art collection comprises the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century painting collections amassed in London by Francis 1st Earl of Bradford of the first creation and his younger son, Thomas, Lord Torrington. To this, each successive generation has added further works, including portraits, Grand Tour acquisitions and a remarkable group of sporting works collected by the 3rd Earl of Bradford. The collection also includes a notable group of sculptures, including works by Lorenzo Bartolini and Peter Hollins.
