BBC Music Introducing provides a network dedicated to supporting the best emerging talent from across the UK and a platform to propel them onto the national stage through Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, 6 Music, the Asian Network and Radio 3.
BBC Introducing gives up-and-coming artists broadcast opportunities on BBC radio, television and online alongside the chance to perform at major festivals and showcases. Big name artists including Florence + the Machine, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Declan McKenna, Arlo Parks, Celeste, Blossoms, Nao, George Ezra, The 1975, The Big Moon, Tom Grennan, Mimi Webb, James Bay and Jack Garratt all received BBC Music Introducing support at the start of their careers.
On 7th October, BBC Introducing London presents:
PVA:
With a sound packing a heavyweight punch, jagged punk spirit, and moments of hushed contemplation, South London trio PVA have established a cult reputation among avid gig-goers, having already played SXSW, Pitchfork Music Festival and Green Man as well as national tours with Shame, Dry Cleaning and Goat Girl. Fresh on the campaign for their debut album BLUSH set for release in November, catch PVA at Roundhouse Rising Festival so you can say “I was there first!”
Frank Hopkins:
Originally from London but raised in Brighton, Frank Hopkins is a left-field electronic artist who makes melodic dance songs that combine real world instrumentation with more classical dance floor arrangements. Inspired by the likes of Four Tet, Aphex Twin and Jon Hopkins, Frank’s music is both melodic and fragile but also perfect for club nights; with music blended for both concentration or the dance floor.
FLÂNEUSE:
FLÂNEUSE is the project of Roundhouse Resident Artist, Miriam Briggs. Inspired by wandering, introspection and quiet observations, Miriam composes thoughtful music designed to make you feel. Drawing from an eclectic range of musical and literary references, Miriam distils her experience into ethereal songs which champion quietness, remembering and interconnection.
Deaf Rave:
Troi Lee is a London based Deaf DJ, performer, festival curator and events organiser, putting on raves and producing online streamed showcases in signsongs, dance, comedy, VV (Visual Vernacular) and other visual performances made by and for Deaf communities worldwide.
Deaf Rave provide workshops in Event Management, DJing, VJing and British Sign Language (BSL) as well as Deaf Awareness taster workshops for government and council organisations and festivals. They have also collaborated with numerous artists across the music, theatre and performance spectrum, working with charities, organisations and collaborators overseas.
Featuring across all Rising festival gigs, we invite you to try Beat Blocks a new Bass flooring system which transforms sound into felt vibration. Creating a unique experience for everyone, a space providing a new rich sensory input, a more welcome physical sonic environment for the Deaf community and anyone with sensory impairments.
