The Bechdel Test Fest are thrilled to be partnering with MUBI for the release of Emma Seligman's debut feature, SHIVA BABY. Join us for a special Q&A with the director on Monday 14 June, hosted by Beth Webb, to learn more about the making of the film and Emma's career so far.
Exclusively on MUBI from 11 June, SHIVA BABY is a darkly playful comedy of chaos about a young, Jewish bisexual woman grappling with tradition and independence over the course of one climactic day-long shiva. A highlight of 2020’s Toronto International Film Festival and SXSW, the film features a standout lead performance from emerging actor-comedian Rachel Sennott.
The Bechdel Test Fest is an ongoing screening collective who champion films with positive representation for women. We screen events throughout the year in and around London and host the podcast Who Is She? celebrating women in film.
