Become an analogue expert with documentary photographer, David Babaian. As a long-time M user, David will share an overview of some of his favourite analogue M cameras and film stocks before demonstrating how to develop black-and-white film at home.  This course is designed to provide participants with a guide to basic home development of black and white film. It is a hands-on, live demonstration which will take participants through each step of the process, from loading negatives onto spools, through to mixing and using the chemistry. During the demonstration, participants will be able to follow along at home should they wish to do so, as well as ask questions regarding each aspect of the process and overcome any worries they may have about home development.  A PDF step by step guide will be sent to each participant after the demo for future use.

To develop during the webinar, participants will need:  • A roll of shot black and white film (eg, Ilford HP5 / Kodak TriX / Kentmere / Fomapan etc)  • A dark bag  • A film retriever / film casette opener  • A pair of small scissors (preferably round end)  • A developing tank and negative spool / holder  • A thermometer  • 3 x measuring cylinders (minimum 300ml)  • A funnel  • A stirrer  • Developer (Kodak HC110 dilution B will be used during the demo)  • Stop Bath (Ilford Ilfostop will be used during the demo)  • Fixer (Ilford Rapid Fixer will be used during the demo)  • Wetting Agent (Ilford Ilfotol will be used during the demo)  • Access to running water or approx 4 litres of distilled / bottled water  • A stop watch / timer  • Film clips / negative hangers
