Collaging is a process used across the creative fields, from fashion to design and architecture, taking fragments of visual information to create something completely new.

Artists have used collage to provoke and challenge, reframing connections to culture, context and place.

We will draw inspiration from the world of photography to create unique and imaginative collages, reimagining what photography can be and do.

You will be using a variety of materials, including archival and contemporary photographs, colour pens and pencils, and more, to build your own mini worlds. Come and be inspired while connecting with like-minded individuals. We look forward to welcoming you!

About the organisers

The Photography Foundation was created to provide pathways to professional photography for less advantaged young adults in London by offering education, practical experience, and routes to a career in the creative industries. The Photography Foundation acknowledges that commercial photography can be a stressful career and feel isolating at times. Our events are intended to promote wellbeing and the importance of making time for inspiration and creativity in your practice in order to maintain a sustainable career.

About the facilitator

Etienne Audrey Bruce (b. 1988, UK) is an Anglo-French visual artist, editorial photographer and educator currently based in London, UK. Her project-based work is a form of documentation driven by an engagement with the nature of the photographic image, which often includes an element of recording oral histories. A preoccupation with the relationship between form and content has led her to embrace different modes of expression including text, movement, sound, space, sequence and literary forms as portals through which to re-examine documentary image-making practice and embrace its inherent ambiguity. Etienne is a member of Women Photograph, she is Education & Training Manager at The Photography Foundation, and her book Xenitia was published by Zone6 Press in 2023.
