This two-hour creative professional development session is an introduction to the work of the artists exploring and interrogating identity using the medium of photography today.

This session led by photographic artist Sara Shamsavari will explore the history of the photographic portrait and encourage you to reflect critically on the work of the artists exploring and interrogating identity from Alfred Steiglitz to Nan Goldin and Zanele Muholi.

The session will look at the work of contemporary image-makers who question conventions of identity and raise awareness around social, cultural and political concerns, identity rights and body politics through their work.
