Go behind the scenes of Architecture for Dogs with a special online curator talk by exhibition director and leading Japanese design personality Hara Kenya.

So much more than a collection of kennels, Architecture for Dogs is a project born out of a sincere wish to create architectural works which can be joyful for both dogs and their human companions. Presenting a new vision for dog-scaled architecture, the exhibition and accompanying website not only bring together specially-designed pieces by world-class architects such as Ban Shigeru, Kuma Kengo, Sou Fujimoto and Itō Toyō, but they also allow visitors to participate in the project themselves with downloadable DIY blueprints and opportunities for visitors to submit their own architectural ideas.

In this talk, Hara discusses the development and curation of this unique and constantly evolving project, which first launched at Design Miami in 2012, and has continued to grow as it has toured the world, with the latest addition being a piece created for the London exhibition by eminent UK based architect Asif Khan. Hara also discusses his own exhibition contribution ‘D-TUNNEL’ inspired by fond memories of a childhood pet.

There will be an opportunity for selected registered guests to asks questions to Hara Kenya during this live online event.

This event is held online only.

See the exhibition Architecture for Dogs in the Japan House Gallery from 19 September 2020 until 10 January 2021.
