Practising Fashion in a New Way.

Fashion Designer Phoebe English and NOW curator and artist Jemima Burrill will be talking on Zoom for the fourth NOW Gallery Curator’s Talk.

Details to the Zoom will be emailed 30 minutes before the talk.

Quilting templates are available on the NOW Gallery activities page, and everyone is encouraged to sew during the talk.

Phoebe English will be talking about her latest project with Emergency Designer Network. This is an entirely volunteer based network which aims to galvanise localised UK production capacity and skills to support hospital stocks of key garments such as scrubs: Vital items in the fight against COVID – 19. There will also be a discussion looked back at her exhibition for NOW Gallery – Floating | Falling | Drowning | Falling and how this fitted into her practice.  We will also look at other projects she is galvanising Quilting from Waste, regenerated ocean plastics and nylon waste with reclaimed floral cottons, hand dyed with natural indigo and making fastened with biodegradable buttons made from milk. Leading the London charge for sustainability in fashion, with a WhatsApp connecting large and small studios to share ideas, Phoebe English is creating solutions. This is all about a sustainable fashion, a fashion with a future.
