Organised by Leica Camera Ltd.

This workshop is the perfect opportunity for photographers already shooting film to learn the theoretical, technical, and practical knowledge needed to set-up and hand print your own photographs in a darkroom.

The workshop will cover everything you need to know with regards to getting started with darkroom printing. You will be taught how to setup a darkroom, tips and tricks for choosing equipment, selecting chemicals and papers, and a full technical run through of the printing process.

In the practical element of the workshop, you will be shown the complete print making process from creating a contact sheet from your own negatives, to walking away with a selection of finished prints in your hands.

The workshop will be tailored to each student’s ability, and for those feeling more adventurous, further darkroom techniques can also be covered such as cropping, using contrast filters, split grade filters, print toning, dodging and burning and more.

It is recommended that you bring along previously developed black and white negatives that you would like to print. However, negatives can be provided for those that are unable to do so.

The price of this workshop includes the full day practical workshop. Developing materials are included in the price as are light refreshments and snacks. Lunch is not included.
