Organised by The Margate School

The first of its kind; Art, Society, Nature is a new and unconventional fine art masters, aiming to provide an alternative approach to higher education in the UK.This course will encourage you to think about your practice outside of yourself, by exploring how your art can be used to benefit, protect and sustain the world around you.

This course is being pioneered by TMS & ESADHaR in a unique Anglo-French collaboration, with the support of the Council of Normandy and the French Ministry of Culture. ESADHaR is a renowned French art school in Normandy, created in 1741 by the painter Jean-Baptiste Descamps, this partnership gives opportunity for students to create and study in an international context.

In our ambition to establish The Margate School we acknowledge that education is a privilege. Few can afford the time to reflect, to learn about what might be of value and what less so; to learn and apply skills in a meaningful, socially and environmentally sensitive fashion. For most of us learning takes place in intensive bursts in particular periods of our lives, institutionalised and structured. In a world of hyper-production and hyper-consumption, social inequality, human & environmental disasters, the opportunity to learn should not be removed from life but be part of it.
