We’re excited to announce ‘EXPAND’ - an exclusive 4 part panelist series with industry experts over the next few weeks! The first in the series... EXPAND: Your Career In Illustration
Sign up for our exclusive series of panels where industry experts will share their insights on each of these topics - and more! We’ll moderate the panel and ask for all your questions beforehand so we can get real discussions and answers from women who’ve broken into the industry. Our series will consist of 4 events spanning one month, covering Illustration and animation, Advertising, Graphic Design and Digital Design.
Our first panel event will be on Illustration and Animation on 27th October at 7pm GMT. We'll be talking setting up your own business, a career in teaching and standing out from the crowd - plus much more.
This remote event will be hosted on Zoom, and we'll send a link out on the day of the event.

Meet the panel:
Clara Marcus;
Clara Marcus is Managing Agent & Producer at the UK office of The Jacky Winter Group. Specialising in portfolio development, pricing negotiation and licensing, Clara is devoted to creating a healthy creative ecosystem: where artists can thrive and earn a living doing what they love; and clients’ creative and strategic goals are met.
Helen Friel;
Helen Friel is a paper engineer and author with ten years experience art directing and creating paper artwork for editorial and advertising clients. She also authors and illustrates interactive and immersive books for both children and adults, including Midnight Creatures, Hoakes Island and Puzzle Odyssey. Alongside her creative practice she teaches MA Illustration for Falmouth university.
Ana Pérez López;
After surviving a bat bite and three years of crit sessions at CalArts, the Spanish animator Ana Pérez López has seen her films play at SXSW, LIAF, and Dok Leipzig among other festivals. Her film work has gained the recognition of Vimeo Staff Pick badge and The Florida Film Festival. She has a Young Guns cube and shares an Emmy with her team at CNN. Her clients include The New York Times, Harvard Business Review, Spotify, GQ, and Samsung. She was made in Madrid and spent a significant amount of time in Santa Cruz, Santiago, and Los Ángeles before settling in London. She works full-time for The Economist but manages to find time for fun freelance work thanks to her representation agency Inkling. She is a former Journalist, a current type nerd, and immune to rabies.
Pickle Illustration;
Pickle Illustration is a creative duo formed by Lauren Jefferis and Olivia Collins. Specialising in public art, murals and printed goods they strive to spread joy and colour to areas that need it, turning spaces into places. After graduating at the beginning of the pandemic Pickle have gone from strength to strength, and have just moved into their new studio in Birmingham.

The Expand Series is a collaboration between Ladies Wine & Design London and FreshMeet. Ladies Wine & Design (founded by Jessica Walsh) have hubs all over the world who create a network of support and inspiration for women in design, while FreshMeet are based in the UK and help support fresh talent emerging into the creative industries.
P.S. While Ladies Wine & Events are normally just for women, all genders are welcome to this event through FreshMeet. The panel will be women only.
