Get an idea of what it's like to work as a software engineer and tackle a live brief from Brandwatch, delivered by YSYS

Future Software Developer Now is a six-week online training programme with YSYS which will teach you what it takes to make it in a tech-career as a software developer.

Take a big step in launching a future-proof career that’s in high demand in the digital sector. We’ll connect you with industry leaders like Idean and 10X as well and employability coaches and a network of young creatives to help you in your career.

Working to a live brief from Brandwatch you’ll have real-life experience to add to your CV and portfolio for future applications. As well as this, you’ll gain soft skills like collaboration and teamwork, project management, communication skills, and interview techniques to help you land that dream job.

ABOUT THE COURSE
The course is delivered online Tuesday and Thursdays, with support sessions and learning Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
This includes industry talks, development workshops, pastoral support, peer networking, and self-study.

The core elements of this course will cover:

  • What it's like to work as a software engineer by tackling live briefs set by our delivery partners
  • Communications and collaboration
  • Project management
  • Agile Working and working cross-functionally
  • The career pathways of a Software engineer
  • Live interview practice
  • How to find the right company for you
  • Career action plans

REQUIREMENTS
We don’t mind about qualifications or past paid experience; our only requirements are:

  • You must be 18-24 years-old
  • You must be from a London borough
  • You must not be in full-time employment, education or training
  • You must commit to the programme and be free weekdays during the programme (Mon 8 Feb till Fri 19 March)
  • You must be free for a selection day on 26, 27, 28 January

Other than that, we want to see your passion and interest in the industry as well as a creative can-do attitude and desire to learn.

Important info
If your application is successful, you’ll need to be available for an online group selection day on either 26, 27, 28 January where you'll take part in a collaborative group task and meet the Create Jobs team.

Please note that we are unable to offer alternative group selection dates and if you are unable to attend the selection day, we will not be able to process your application further.

You must be free to take part in the programme full time between Mon 8 Feb till Fri 19 March
