Join activist, author and curator Kimberly Drew for an intimate discussion with gal-dem's Mariel Richards over zoom.

They'll be talking all things art, influence and Kimberly's new book: This Is What I Know About Art. Through a mix of personal narratives and direct invitations Drew shares her own lessons with the hope of inspiring the next generation of arts leaders. Kimberly and Mariel will be taking questions throughout the session so please do get involved in the conversation!

About Kimberly:
Kimberly Drew is an American writer, curator, and activist. Drew received her B.A. from Smith College in Art History and African-American Studies. She first experienced the art world as an intern in the Director’s Office of The Studio Museum in Harlem. Her time at the Studio Museum inspired her to start the Tumblr blog Black Contemporary Art, sparking her interest in social media. Drew's writing has appeared in Vanity Fair, Glamour, and Teen Vogue. Drew recently left her role as the Social Media Manager at The Met. Her upcoming book, "This is What I Know About Art," arrives on June 2, 2020. About Mariel:
Mariel Richards is head of partnerships at award gal-dem and former illustrator. Her research and creative interests lie in modern and contemporary Black portraiture and the use of craft in black and folk art practices.
