As part of our new series of V&A Innovate Online Talks aimed at Secondary School teachers and design education specialists
Rodrigo García González is a Designer, Architect and Inventor. He is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Notpla, a sustainable packaging start up. In this talk, Rodrigo will share his design methods, creative approaches to problem solving, and an insight into the design of Notpla.
Notpla is a combination of designers, chemists, engineers and entrepreneurs who create advanced packaging solutions that disappear, naturally. Notpla designed Ooho! an edible biodegradable alternative to plastic. Ooho! is a flexible packaging for beverages and sauces made from material combining seaweed and plants. It’s biodegrades in 4-6 weeks, or you can just eat it. Rodrigo’s other projects include: a suitcase that follows the user tracking the signal of the mobile phone, a deployable architectural system that can create buildings several floors tall in a few hours, and participatory architecture projects using waste plastic bottles. He is Senior Lecturer in Product Design at Kingston University and is a visiting tutor with different institutions such as Cornell University, CEPT, Imperial College, Royal College of Art. This talk will provide inspiration for delivering V&A Innovate, creative approaches to problem solving, and projects in the classroom focused on the environment and sustainability.
