Join our panel for a discussion about discos, clubs and music venues, and the importance of these spaces in building groups and communities

The history of clubs and music venues is a strange and inimitable mix of hedonism, escapism, political activism and creativity. Throughout history, people have gone to lose themselves but ended up finding social and community causes instead. There is, simply, something magical about these spaces.

Join our panelists to hear how they became involved in this unique world and what they see in the socially distanced future for nightlife. Renowned British designer Tom Dixon started his career as a musician and hosted club nights in 80s Soho. His fascination with music spaces continues today both with his venues in London and Milan and collaborations with synthesizer company Teenage Engineering. Paul Noble is co-founder and artistic director of Spiritland, a space for music lovers and audiophiles with homes in the Royal Festival Hall and Kings Cross. Emma Warren is a broadcaster and author who writes about clubs, music and youth culture. The event will be chaired by Alice Fisher, editor of The Observer's Design magazine.
