Korros Ensemble launch their new album, NOSTALGICA in the beautiful chapel at The House of St Barnabas.

About this event
Join Korros Ensemble on the 5th of December for the release of their new album!
Recorded with Convivium Records and released on International Women’s Day 2022, this ravishing album features music by two trailblazing women composers, Cheryl Frances-Hoad and Catrin Finch.
These are centered round newly uncovered works by the fascinating musical figure, Elizabeth Poston (1905-1987). Poston was head of the BBC European Service during WW2, President of the Society of Women Composers and even worked as a Secret Agent. Three of her works are recorded on this disc and will be presented at The House, along music by Howard Blake, Nick Ellis, Cheryl Frances-Hoad and Catrin Finch.
Described by Katie Derham at BBC Radio 3 as “impish and gorgeous”.
John Suchet: "Crystal clarity and lyrical playing by the Korros Ensemble in this fine recording of Elizabeth Poston’s masterpiece for flute, clarinet and harp."
"This is a collection of beguiling works for flute, clarinet and harp trio which revolve around the emotional heart of Elizabeth Poston’s music. In her music, modernity is seamlessly interwoven with a sense of antiquity; of simpler more innocent times and avoids the trappings of being kitsch, naive or ever sentimental. Complimentary works by other composers exhibit rhythmic incisiveness, playfulness and lyricism - all seemingly bathed in a sepia-toned nostalgia. Here is an indomitable partnership of fabulous music and wonderful playing." George Richford – Producer
Please do join Korros Ensemble for a drink after the event.

This winter, the cost-of-living crisis is going to affect almost all of us, and no one more so than those already living in the grip of poverty. When the freezing months roll in and people cannot afford to turn on the heating; when energy, rent, and food bills are so high they swallow up someone’s budget long before their next paycheque is due; when a crisis stretches low incomes to the breaking point like the current economic crisis is doing - the people that we work with suffer.
We are aiming to raise £50,000 to support our participants and graduates with the cost-of-living crisis. We would greatly appreciate you donating to our appeal, and/or sharing the details of the appeal on your social media channels.
