About this event
To celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month, curator Davy Pittoors and artist Will Martin will transform Libreria Bookshop for an intimate dinner with renowned 90's queer culture photographer Marc Vallée.
Vallée's work focuses on the lives of people who navigate the margins of the nocturnal landscape and who are often at odds with the structured flow of neoliberal cities. His subjects are mainly young, male social transgressors; from graffiti writers and sex workers to activists and urban explorers, they disrupt the capitalist system while pursuing their own desires and identities.
Guests will gather around the dinner table to share a 90s themed meal prepared by Will, whilst Davy speaks to Marc about his new book 90s Archive: Volume One and its captivating glimpse into queer life in that transformative decade.
The menu will be inspired by Marc’s food memories during his time as a student in Whitechapel. We'll start with Tapas-style sharing plates, followed by an elevated ‘sausage pasta’ served with braised seasonal vegetables. We'll finish the evening with a French tart, based on a recipe from Marc’s childhood. It'll be a vegetarian meal with carnivorous options, served on Will’s handmade tableware, made to capture the joy and irreverence of the period. Accompanying wine will be selected and served by Second Home.
Tickets include a signed copy of 90s Archive: Volume One
