As an architect, educator and theorist, Kengo Kuma is constantly in search of new approaches to architecture and materials to replace concrete and steel for post-industrial society. Kuma will discuss the research undertaken for the design of Take-wa (竹わ), which combines bamboo and carbon fibre into an innovative structure, as well as his ongoing material explorations that combine ancient, natural and sustainable materials with new technologies.
