There is a lot of misinformation out there about mindfulness. Modern media has misconstrued it to appear to be some sort of relaxation trick. This is far from the truth. Yes, mindfulness is evidence based to reduce our stress and anxiety but it is much more than that. It's about waking up-to all aspects of our lives. It's about feeling less caught in our heads with worry/over thinking/planning etc, and being able to meet the joyous moments of our lives, as well as the inevitable painful ones with clarity and compassion.

In this hour long experiential and interactive session you will have a chance to try out some simple mindfulness practices and meditations (including mindful eating), and learn what mindfulness is, and importantly, what it is not. We will also explore a little on the mechanics, and the neuroscience of mindfulness-how does it bring about these beneficial changes that show up in research over and over again!

Please bring raisins or dry fruit to this session if possible.

If you have struggled with mindfulness before, or are maybe on the sceptical side-this session is for you.
This event is taking place live from Dublin, Ireland. Please calculate the time difference if joining from elsewhere.

About the Host:
Rachel is the founder of Insight Out Mindfulness. Rachel’s background is in Occupational Therapy, and she has over 14 years clinical experience and a specialization in mental health. Rachel’s own passion for mindfulness led her through a training of over 5 years in the UK, and Ireland-culminating in a First Class Masters Degree in Mindfulness Based Interventions from UCD. She teaches evidence-based mindfulness programmes, and one to one mindfulness to the general population, health care staff and young people. She also creates bespoke mindfulness and self-compassion workshops for the workplace.

She is passionate about making mindfulness accessible and believes that a sense of humour and fun has an important place in this intimate and self-revealing practice. She also believes in teaching that being mindful doesn’t mean we need to change who we are, and that we don’t need to be a certain type of person to discover how practicing mindfulness might help us.
