Join artist and author Edmund de Waal for a discussion of his thought-provoking new book, 'Letters to Camondo'.
The Camondo family lived in Paris a few doors away from artist and writer Edmund de Waal’s forebears, the Ephrussi. Both families were collectors and part of belle époque society; both were also targets of anti-semitism. 'Letters to Camondo' is a series of haunting letters written by de Waal to the Count Moïse de Camondo – the owner of a Parisian palace turned into a memorial for his son lost in the First World War, now known as the Musée Nissim de Camondo.
Join de Waal in conversation with Olivier Gabet, director of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Musée Nissim de Camondo for an thought-provoking discussion of themes explored in these letters from assimilation to art to the essence of memory.
This talk will be held on Zoom, and ticket holders will receive a link to view live on the morning of the event. The talk will also be recorded, and available to view for ticketholders after the event.
